Lesson 2026-04-19: One-Pager Product Format

Category: products

What We Were Trying To Do

Create sellable digital products from Atlas Automation's knowledge

What We Tried

Building complex courses with multiple modules

What Went Wrong

The complex approach was wrong for the target audience. Scott clarified: "One problem, one solution." Busy contractors don't want courses โ€” they want answers.

How We Fixed It

Created 5 one-pager PDFs, each solving ONE specific problem:

The content was technically correct but not in sellable format.

Lesson 2026-04-19: Hardcoded API Keys = Unsellable Business

Category: products

What We Were Trying To Do

Build a sellable business where someone else could take over

What We Tried

Embedding API keys directly in scripts and code

What Went Wrong

With API keys in the code, no one can buy this business without getting all of Scott's credentials. Selling becomes impossible โ€” every new owner would need access to Scott's personal accounts.

How We Fixed It

Moved all credentials to .env files. Git-ignored. Scripts read from environment variables. Any new owner can create their own .env and the code works.

Lesson 2026-04-19: Daily Dashboard โ€” One Morning Email

Category: products

What We Were Trying To Do

Send Scott morning business updates

What We Tried

Sending individual alerts โ€” "new lead!", "email received!", "pipeline update!"

What Went Wrong

Scott wanted ONE morning email with ALL business data, not scattered notifications throughout the day. Too many separate messages = noise.

How We Fixed It

Built daily-dashboard.py โ€” one morning email showing:
